The Baron is finally back at his usual redoubt after a week-long, 1,600-mile road trip through the hinterlands, and while I'm still recovering from lumpy hotel beds and bad road food, for the post-literate among us here's a cool link from the folks at Open Culture on the history of negative political ads. And who knew there was actually an entire book devoted to political attack ads? Obviously, I've got some catch-up reading to do . . .
For those of you who can't get enough of this stuff, the Museum of the Moving Image has an extensive archive of go-negative politicking (note: Windows Media or RealPlayer required. If you're harnessed to Quick Time like I am, you'll have to content yourself with the transcripts, which can be pretty hilarious in themselves, including the infamous example included here).
