The Baron was about to compose a rather lengthy diatribe today critiquing various aspects of the new Clinton Health Care Plan, and while I may yet attempt it, after reading the last two 'graphs of the CNN coverage this morning, I nearly threw my keyboard into the woodchipper. Why?
Because there's no way I could top the Mittster on this.
See for yourself. In fewer than 50 words, Mitt manages to pander to virtually every significant voting bloc in the Republican base without actually saying what he even remotely finds objectionable about Hillary's proposal. For those keeping score:
Another Republican White House hopeful, Mitt Romney, accused Clinton of taking "her inspiration from European bureaucracies [1. xenophobes].""Instead we should take our inspiration from the American people," said the former Massachusetts governor. "Hers is a plan which I think underscores the fact that she fundamentally does not believe in markets [2. supply-siders] and in the states [3. the South]. And I believe that our inspiration should come from American families [4. religious right]."
He forgot to throw in a gratuitous reference to 9/11, but otherwise, this is a masterpiece from the Pericles of pandering.
I am finally starting to realize why Josh gets a bad case of reflux whenever this guy shows up on TV.
