So the big bad Iranians kept a naughty little secret from the UN, and now wingnut heads are exploding across the blogosphere, as exemplified by informed comment such as this:
James Woolsey, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, tells NRO that the revelation of a second uranium enrichment site in Iran presents serious challenges to the Obama administration. "Since the top levels of the government in Iran are constituted of theocratic, totalitarian, and genocidal maniacs, it shouldn't be too surprising that they also violate treaties and lie about their nuclear sites," he says.
Genocidal? Excuse me for being such a fuzzy-headed liberal, but if the Iranians are actually intending to build a nuclear warhead to launch against Israel, the proper term would be "suicidal," don't you think?
One assumes we'll hear the usual members of the 101st Chairborne brayng and bleating on the Sunday talk shows about the imminent need for yet another war. Yet one can't help but wonder why these brave and stalwart men continue to overlook the looming threat to the existence of the Republic that's posed by a nation in our very own hemisphere: A socialist hellhole that enslaves its people. That has all but outlawed capitalism. That openly trades with our enemies. That wallows in all manner of immorality and filth. That mocks our values, and which hates us for our freedoms that come from God also:
"Our use of American institutions," they said, "or our lazy, even abject imitation of them has caused an uncritical acceptance of ideas and assumptions which are alien to our tradition."
Alien to our tradition. Did I mention that this hellhole nation also serves as a welcome conduit to terrorists who would invade our shores to do us harm?
My fellow Americans, the time for talk is over. Now we need action. Not sanctions or boycotts or sternly worded warnings, but a preemptive strike against this existential menace.
As an incidental benefit, the cost of this war will not be an issue. Besides the fact that its downtrodden citizens will greet our soldiers as liberators, its oil revenues will more than cover the costs:
Real men go to Ottawa.
