Sometimes don't seem so best or bright:
"When I think about what we've done well and what we haven't done well," the president told CBS television in an interview, "the mistake of my first term---couple of years---was thinking that this job was just about getting the policy right.""And that's important. But the nature of this office is also to tell a story to the American people that gives them a sense of unity and purpose and optimism, especially during tough times," Obama said in an excerpt of the exchange with Charlie Rose.
At least he couldn't have picked a better interviewer to ply with vacuous boilerplate.
Snark aside, people aren't mad and impatient because the President's men spent too much time trying to get the policy right. They're made and impatient because they didn't get the policy right. Worse yet, they embraced a failed narrative that most people don't give a shit about when what voters really want is jobs, and money, and mortgage relief, as well as the vicarious pleasure of a little retribution for the billions they were swindled. If the President wants a good story to tell, perhaps he should try this one: Crime Doesn't Pay.
