They must have some pretty dreadful intel---like, to the effect that a big chunk of the base is on the verge of mutiny---for them to even think about doing this:
"[Romney] has said Obama's a nice fellow, he's just in over his head," the adviser said. "But I think the governor himself believes this latest round of attacks that have impugned his integrity and accused him of being a felon go so far beyond that pale that he's really disappointed. He believes it's time to vet the president. He really hasn't been vetted; McCain didn't do it."
B-b-b-but, pivoting toward the center!
As it turns out, they do have some shitty poll numbers.
This may yet end up being one of the most dreadful political campaigns of my lifetime---a race to the bottom between a corporate-friendly centrist who has shielded a generation of thieves from all accountability, and a corporate-friendly sociopath who may himself be a thief---but at least I am starting to think the Teabillies are gonna have themselves one heck of a convention. Can't wait to see it!
