There was nothing furtive about this legislation, at least for those of us in the blogosphere---it was broadly discussed in the days leading up to its passage, and hundreds of thousands of people petitioned against it, so the members of Team Democrat in the Senate or the White House could have put a stop to it whenever they wanted to. But they didn't want to, so they didn't put a stop to it. That's not to say the members of Team Democrat are evil, but it is a another sign---as mentioned earlier---that we are governed by people whose overarching policy goals are increasing shareholder value---and if those policies happen to be detrimental to our health, well, we can always sell our shares. Don't have any shares to sell? Oh well!
