Elaborating on the previous post, our current low-tax, low-wage, austerity-for-the-masses economic model all but guarantees us a future of social unrest. Matter of fact, it's happening right now, and these are the kinds of people we need to mobilize, energize, and turn out at the polls on election day. But it won't happen simply because someone makes an inspiring speech abut income inequality. It's going to happen when Democratic candidates for office start making concrete policy proposals to solve the problem, like raising the minimum wage to 20 bucks an hour, doubling the size of Social Security, and restoring a truly progressive tax code. There are plenty of poor, jobless and underemployed people who are willing to get involved. We just need to give them a good reason.
